It’s hard imagining life in today’s world without a credit card. The only thing is, now that I have cancelled my credit card, I’ve lost access to so many things. No, I wasn’t even able to hire a Hertz rental car, or buy tickets for a plane trip over the internet. I remember when using cash was the preferred way to buy things. Using an American Express, Visa or Mastercard has become commonplace globally but we do it without thinking, do I need this and do I have the money. Although cards are a really convenient way to make a purchase – get it now and worry about it tomorrow – it does come at a heavy cost. Unfortunately, credit card debts are mounting in many places around the world.

It is true that credit debts are one of the biggest problems that are facing America today, and that is no joke. After considering this I decide to get rid of my credit card. Parting with your money that you don’t see leaving you is easy and makes you spend more. I would charge everything and anything on my credit card, and soon the costs would spiral out of control. I was in a right state when I finally admitted that I couldn’t pay the debt. It took a debt consultancy specialist to finally get me back into a position where I actually started to pay my debt off. It was an awful situation.

There is a happy ending though because my debt is paid off and the credit card has been destroyed. A lot of people would think that it is rash to blame it on the American Express credit card, but I think that they do not understand something about human psychology. If you pay for goods or services in cash, you actually see that money coming out of your pocket. It’s easy using a credit card and at the time quite painless. It wasn’t until I had spent all my money I’d realise that I had been spending it like a running tap. So now there is no credit card problem.
